Don't text while you are on a date. It is very flattering to a guy, who is going out on a limb to get to know you, when a girl pulls out her phone during a date and turns it off. 

Better safe than sorry... Don't know if you are on a date or if it's just a paid hang-out..? Be polite and enjoy the company, even if you would rather be somewhere else with somebody else.

Unless you desire to be immediately dumped, never attempt to sing I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston to any flame... past, present, future, real, or imagined.
